Case Study

UC Davis Children's Hospital — CAARE Center

A free statewide digital learning platform for caregivers of youth impacted by sex trafficking, designed through a trauma-informed lens from the ground up.

Built around one question: what does this person actually need right now?

The challenge

The challenge here wasn't just building a course. It was asking: what does it feel like to be a caregiver sitting with this material, and how does every design decision either support or undermine that experience? That question drove the architecture, the pacing, the way content is introduced, and the guided audio breathing breaks we conceived and produced to give users space to regulate before continuing.

What we built

We led creative direction, UX, and full LMS development; directed, edited, and produced audio and video content including script development and voiceover direction; and facilitated Spanish translation with attention to cultural relevance at every level of the experience. The goal throughout was a platform that meets people where they are with empathy and grace.
